One of the suspects arrested in the brutal murder of a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Lawal Kontangora in Kaduna State, has confessed that he was killed because of a girl.
Daily Trust reports that the 22-year-old suspect, Adamu Jibril, confessed during interrogation by the police at the state command headquarters, that his friend, Aminu Bahago had approached him to help confront a man he suspected to be dating a girl he was interested in
.
The target turned out to be the young Corps
member who had come back to the country to serve his nation after
graduating from a university in Malaysia.
In his words, the suspect said:
"He
(Aminu Bahago) said I should come and accompany him to the guy and I
told him I wouldn’t want us to waste time there because I don’t want to
be out for long in the night.
He
went in, carried a gun and a knife and gave me the knife. When we got
to the place, he showed me the guy from a distance, as we approached the
car.
Aminu knocked on the door
of the car as it was locked. The guy then opened the car and Aminu sat
in front with him and the guy asked us what we wanted from him before
Aminu started reminding him that he is dating his girlfriend.
Then Aminu drew him out of the car and Aminu told me that I should stab the guy with the knife.
I stabbed the guy in the back and after stabbing him, Aminu shot the guy with the gun on his leg."
The late Kontagora was murdered on the October 17 while two suspects were apprehended on October 20, 2016.
After a thorough investigation, Jibrin was arrested on November 2, by the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB)
