The Police Spokesman in the state said that the suspects were arrested on Wednesday at 8am.

Police say they have arrested two robbery suspects who specialise in burgling houses and dispossessing people of their money and other valuables at gunpoint in Nsukka, Enugu State.

The Police Spokesman in the state, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nsukka that the suspects were arrested on Wednesday at 8.00 a.m.
Amaraizu said that the suspects were arrested after a distress call to operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Nsukka zone.
The suspects are: Chinedu Omeje, 25, from Akpa Edem in Nsukka and Onyebuchi Ezema, 22, from Amaogwu Edemm, also in Nsukka.
He told NAN that Ezema was an ex-convict who recently regained freedom after serving a jail term over nefarious activities, ranging from petty stealing to robbery.
“The duo were nabbed by the operatives following a distress call.
“Following their arrest and revelations, some of the burgled and stolen items were recovered from the suspects.
“Some of the items were also recovered from one Ifeoma Ugwu, 36, the receiver of the stolen items.
“Ifeoma claimed to be a widow.
“They are already helping the police in their investigation,’’ Amaraizu said.
He also said that two single barrel locally-made guns, a rubber pistol, five live cartridges and one expended cartridge were recovered from the suspects.
Others items recovered from the hoodlums’ hideout were: three cell phones, one Cy 90 motorcycle, two generators, one television, one standing fan and cooking utensils.
The police spokesman also said that the suspects, in their separate revelations, blamed the devil for their act and pleaded for forgiveness.
