The CP in Delta state has disclosed the arrest of a fake police officer and DSS operative in the state.
A 35-year-old man parading himself as an operative of the Department of State Service has been arrested by the police.
The suspect identified as Chris Akpati,
reportedly paid the sum of N80,000 for the arrest of some traditional
chiefs of Idemili community Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta
State, Punch reports.
The news of the arrest was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Zanna Ibrahim, in a statement issued on Sunday, November 20.
According to him, fake DSS officer was working for one Agboma Sunday.
Ibrahim
revealed that Akpati and Sunday were both arrested when the
impersonator went to the community to arrest the chiefs whom Sunday
accused of killing his son, in a bid to eliminate them.
Punch
reports that the CP also revealed that one Okon had filed a report at
the Kwale police division claiming that Akpati called him introducing
himself as a DSS official from Abuja and informed him that he had a
petition written against him (complainant) by one Agboma Sunday in
respect of his son, who was killed some time ago in the area.
Ibrahim said,
“The said fake SSS personnel later went to Idemili to effect the arrest
of the complainant with the motive of gathering other chiefs in the
community with the complainant to be eliminated by Agboma Sunday and his
thugs in vengeance of his late son’s death. It was further revealed
that Agboma Sunday paid N80, 000.00 to Chris Akpeti for the job.”
Also contained in the statement was the arrest of a fake police officer who was arrested
while escorting a Mercedes Benz truck with Reg. No.ABU 208 UV belonging
to Alon Technical Services Limited in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to Ibrahim, the fake police officer identified as Chiemeka Telvin,
43, was arrested in police uniform along Abraka/Obiaruku road by the
operatives of SARS based in Eku Ethiope East Council Area of the state.
He added, “The
vehicle, loaded with some welding materials, was being escorted by one
Chiemeka Telvin ‘m’ who was dressed in full police uniform with F/No.
429000 and a sergeant rank. On-the-spot-inquiry revealed that the said
Chiemeka Telvin is a fake policeman.
“He was consequently arrested along with the driver while the vehicle was impounded. Investigation is in progress.”
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the completion of the investigation.
