Like Tiwa and Tee Billz, Ubi needs to shut up and learn

It is an integral part of our existence, a mark of our culture and proof of our divergent views and creative instincts as a people. All of these put together explains why we can probably never overemphasize the reach, impact and importance of the creative industry in Nigeria.

The announcement coincided with the pop star’s 30th birthday as well so you can see why it was a helluva day for him as he was a recurring subject on social media, quickly becoming a trending topic, even as he went on media rounds to buttress the new deal.
Iyanya might have moved on but one man who is stuck in a quagmire is Ubi Franklin.

Ubi is in this situation based on the rumoured, thinly-veiled break up of his marriage to actress and lifestyle entrepreneur Lilian Esoro. In November 2015, Ubi and the Nollywood star got hitched and as is customary within the industry, they brought friends and family members together in a festival-like, matrimonial jamboree.
In all of the high-spiritedness of their celebration, another celeb marriage nearby was on the brink of a collapse but as we hadn’t sufficient proof we let it slide.

But by April 2016, after months of 'cosmetic surgery-ing', social media pretenses and everything in between, we saw pop star Tiwa Savage end her marriage to former manager-turned-lover Tee Billz after a (social) media meltdown that felt like candle sticks in a blazing furnace.
It was the end of one of the most picture-perfect Nigerian celeb marriages in a minute, with both parties struggling real hard to establish proof of the other being at fault and whatnot.
It was a fiasco of a period for the Eminado crooner but luckily she bounced back before long, even though many will argue her trails of controversies plus her break to birth and nurse little Jamil enabled Yemi Alade edge her out on the African continent if nothing else.

In all, there are speculations the couple might be back or gearing up to return as one again. We wish them all the best but that’s talk for another day.
