Abducted Benue journalist regains freedom

The female journalist, Mrs Jill Iyuadoo Tor-Agbidye, who was abducted from her residence in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, on December 2, 2016, has been released.
The news editor who works with Radio Benue, was forcefully taken away by five unidentified gunmen who reportedly broke into her room through the window while she was asleep, and drove away in the family’s car.
The police command in Benue state had said that it suspected an insider job in the incident, saying that preliminary investigations indicated that someone with foreknowledge of the family, may have planned the kidnap.
While the state police have claimed knowledge of Mrs Tor-Agbidye’s freedom, they are yet to make a formal announcement on the matter, and the circumstances of her release have not been made known.
