Army Kill Five Boko Haram Terrorists In Yobe
The Nigerian Army have killed five suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe state north east Nigeria.
A top military officer of the 233 battalion of the Nigeria Army in Damaturu who requested anonymity, told Channels Television that the insurgents were killed between Kukareta and Sasawa communities, outskirts of Damaturu the state capital.
“The operation was successfully executed by an officer and twenty soldiers based on tip off from the locales who informed security forces of the presence of the Boko Haram terrorists, who have been carrying out onslaught between Kukareta and Sasawa for the past three months..
“The terrorists have been carrying out series of attacks around Kukareta, Sasawa and Babbangida axis, particularly on market days to loot foodstuffs and some valuables that will aid them in their wicked activities” the source said.
According to him, “luck ran out on them as they met our officers and men who were on patrol and in a gun battle, five of them were killed in the process as none of our men was hurt in the gun battle”.
He stated that items recovered included: 3 AK 47 rifles, 4 GSM handset, an Airtel SIM Card, 3 Jack Knives, N9, 845 and Tramadol Capsules.
Since military commenced serious onslaught on the Boko Haram terrorists last year, the militants seems to have been wiped off across Yobe state with some traces of them still visible around the Kukareta, Sasawa, Mafa and Tarmuwa axis.
The killing of the five insurgents around the area is however expected to return relative peace to the inhabitants of the area.
