Ikwerre results reportedly hijacked by top politician

Governor Nyesom Wike and Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi are from the affected LG area.

The results  of Ikwerre local government area of Rivers in the state's rerun election may have been hijacked, The Cable reports.

Ikwerre and Emouha are said to be the only  local governments of the eight in the Rivers east senatorial district where results have not been declared.
The results of Ogu/Bolo, Okrika, Omuma, Obio Akpor, and Etche local governments have all been announced.
The online news portal cited a security source at the INEC collation centre in Port Harcourt, who said the delayed results were hijacked by a top politician.
The state Governor, Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi are from that area.
It was reported that election did not hold in Wike's  constituency, while Amaechi could not take part in the polls due to the missing result sheet at Ward 8, Unit 14, Ubima, where he was supposed to cast his ballot.
The election in Ikwerre was characterized by ballot box snatching, missing result sheets, harassment of electoral officials and other electoral malpractices.
Collation is said to still be ongoing in Rivers south-east, and Rivers west senatorial districts
