Two Fulani herdsmen, Abdulahi Anaruwa and Mohammed Suleiman, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly butchering a colleague when they tried to steal some of his cattle.
Vanguard reports that the suspects murdered the deceased,
Garuba Mohammed, at Itadodo area of Ofada in Obafemi-Owode Local
Government Area of the state, when they attempted to steal his cows when
he was grazing.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi,
while confirming the incident, disclosed that the two suspects who were
grazing the herd together with the victim lured him into a nearby bush
where they killed him with their machetes.
However,
luck ran out on the killers when a motorcyclist saw them and alerted
the people of the area, who in turn called the police.
“The DPO of Owode Egba, CSP Sheu Alao, led his men to the scene and the two suspects were promptly arrested.
The
commissioner of police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate
transfer of the suspects to the homicide section of the State Criminal
Investigation and Intelligent Department, SCIID, for further
investigation," ASP Oyeyemi added.The PPRO further stressed the command's determination to curb crime and
criminality in the state, adding that the suspects would soon be charged
to court at the conclusion of an investigation by the police.
