Jungle Justice Angry mob beats motorcycle thief to death

A suspected motorcycles thief had been given jungle justice which eventually led to his death.


A suspected motorcycle thief has reportedly been lynched to death by angry youths in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The motorcycle operator identified as Francis Uroh was beaten to death over the weekend by youths who were about 500 in number, Punch reports.
The deceased who was a native of Amasiri community in the state, was conveying a passenger to nearby Ehugbo community when an alarm was raised by someone that his stolen motorcycle had been spotted.
Punch reports that youths in the area immediately swung into action and beat Uroh with various objects  which led to his death.
While confirming the incident, the caretaker committee chairman of Afikpo North Local Government, Chief Oko Enyum, said that the youths of Amasiri had been preparing for a reprisal attack but for his timely intervention.
The member representing Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Iduma Igariwey, while reacting to the sad development, condemned the killing.
Igariwey said, “Law enforcement agents should arrest and prosecute the suspects. Their action is callous and barbaric."
He said that he regretted the fact that youths had taken the law into their hands, blaming them for not reporting the case to law enforcement agents.
